“SuperGrid is set in a near future where mining conglomerates have turned Canada into a wasteland. Two brothers must travel the same road that claimed their sister’s life in their quest to deliver mysterious cargo. En route they must contend with road pirates, rebel gangs, and each other.”SuperGrid IMDB https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6949498/
Talking Dog was responsible for the complete audio post on this 5.1 theatrical release, while Talking Dog alumnus Todd Bryanton and Saskatoon’s Factor Chandelier created the music. Sound design for this fully made-in-Saskatchewan film was very interesting, particularly for the foley department who had to create a variety of gross sounds for effects like an exploding head and various dismemberments. Sound design was a fun challenge as well, since the near-future world of the film needed the sound effects of technology that was both slightly futuristic but already in decay.
Here we see Hugh Patterson (Producer), Lowell Dean (Director) and Emersen Ziffle (SFX) having some fun recording the DVD commentary at Talking Dog Studios.
Congratulations to the talented team responsible for this film! Residents of the Regina area may get a kick out of picking out the various landmarks which were ingeniously modified to place them in the battered near-future world of SuperGrid.
